My graduate studies revolved around civil engineering in general; however, the focus was on structural analysis, materials and computing in civil engineering applications. My research concerned the enhancement of methods for structural performance and condition assessment through the analysis of NDT data. Throughout my studies, several of my peer-reviewed articles were published in international journals and conferences. More recently, with the Group for Research in Analysis and Instrumentation (GRAI) at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Sherbrooke, my research concerns the development of analytical methods, numerical models, and algorithms for condition assessment of structures based on NDT methods, using infrared thermography and acoustic techniques, and remote sensing using radar, and image and signal processing, in order to increase the accuracy and reliability of assessments for structural performance. An important aspect of this research is to transfer technology from the laboratory to practical applications through various projects. Part of my previous work experience also involved research in the development and testing of materials in an engineering industry in California, USA. I am confident that my academic background and research, along with my teaching philosophy and methodology, will complement and contribute to your department’s goals. My preferred approach to teaching is that of practical applications through projects, many of which are sufficiently large and complex; thus students may work as part of an interdisciplinary team and benefit from a broad-based education with exposure to different disciplines.
