    The Pacific National Exhibition is an iconic institution in BC, famous for bringing generations of people together to celebrate and build memories. This 108 year old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of $54 million dollars and generates revenue through three activity streams:  the 15 day annual summer Fair which averages 750,000 guests each year, Playland amusement park which welcomes 375,000 guests annually including Fright Nights,  year-round events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events.  The PNE is proud of the work it does at Hastings Park and has a vibrant team that is passionate about events, guest experience and being the best we can be.

     The Event Facility Cleaner, will report to the Event Sweeper Foreperson and/or the Manager of Tech Services.

    Please Note: This position will be part-time event based. Shifts range from 4-8 hour shifts. Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including afternoon, evening, graveyard and weekend shifts.

    What will you do this year?

    In your role as an Event Facility Cleaner, your primary accountabilities will be to:

    Clean assigned areas in PNE event venues, including the seating surfaces, the seating bowl and/or press areas
    Sweep and mop assigned areas; remove all debris and tripping hazards
    Attend to spills of varying natures.  Ensure that proper protocols are followed for cleaning specific waste materials (i.e. Protein spills)
    Empty garbage containers, recycling containers, diversion stations, compost and waste paper receptacles
    Maintain cleanliness of assigned washrooms; wash and disinfect all sinks, mirrors and toilets, sweep and mop floors, and maintain a dry floor surface at all times
    Clean event related signage as required
    Clean and disinfect F&B condiment stations, counters and table tops. Ensure all countertops are clear of garbage (ie-cups, food waste, etc)
    Replenish all supplies in facilities as required, and keep supplies locked up at all other times
    May be required to wear a radio and answer calls as required.
    Moving chairs
    Assist other departments with areas requiring cleaning
    Ensure PNE Uniform and Appearance policy is adhered to at all times
    Greet guests in a courteous and professional manner
    Perform other related duties as assigned
    What else?

    Sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit the performance of assigned tasks (i.e. repeated climbing of stairs and standing for extended periods of time)
    Previous janitorial experience preferred
    Must be available to work a part-time event based schedule with graveyard shift availability
    Capable of working at heights and lifting heavy materials up to WCB restrictions
    Physically able to work in awkward positions
    Knowledge of the hazards and proper safety precautions of the construction trades
    Must be capable of reading, writing and speaking English for the purposes of written or oral instructions, timesheets and documentation of work
    Candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check
