    The Pacific National Exhibition is an iconic institution in BC, famous for bringing generations of people together to celebrate and build memories. This 108 year old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of $48 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams:  the 15 day annual summer Fair which averages 800,000 guests each year, Playland amusement park which welcomes 375,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, year-round events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events.  The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance.  The PNE is proud of the work it does at Hastings Park and has a vibrant team that is passionate about events, guest experience and being the best we can be.

     We are looking for a talented individual to join our PNE Rides Operations Team to ensure that assigned areas of buildings/grounds are maintained in a clean and debris-free manner while providing supervision to staff. This individual will work in compliance with all health and safety requirements as determined by WorkSafeBC in addition to all other applicable legislation and company policies. Our ideal candidate has a passion for site maintenance, and possesses strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

    What will you do this year?

    In your role as a Playland Sweeper Supervisor, your primary accountabilities will be to:

    Oversee a group of employees within the Playland site clean-up team by planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, and reviewing activities of workers
    Ensure that a high level of safety, efficiency, and guest service is upheld within the Department
    Ensure that assigned areas within the building/grounds are maintained in a clean and debris-free manner while providing supervision to staff
    Ensure proper PNE dress code is adhered to at all times
    Assist with scheduling and assembling timesheet data for employees as required
    Assist with training and development initiatives and the performance management of staff under the direction of management and HR
    Assist with cleaning, sweeping, mopping, emptying garbage containers and waste paper receptacles as needed
    May be required to perform Groundskeeper duties on an as needed basis
    Perform other related duties as required by the Manager
    What else?

    A minimum of five years’ experience required within areas of site maintenance and clean-up
    Previous experience supervising staff is required
    Must have successfully completed WHMIS training
    Previous work experience at the Foreperson I level or equivalent is considered an asset
    Previous experience working in a janitorial capacity is an asset
    Knowledge of the hazards and proper safety precautions (i.e. Ride Operations lockout system, use of power washers, blowers, and other machineries) is considered an asset
    Ability to work under pressure and delegate tasks effectively
    Must be capable of reading, writing, and speaking English for the purposes of written or oral instructions, timesheets and documentation of work
    Familiarity with general PNE information and all related operational information of the Playland division
    Must be available to work varying shifts including late nights, weekends and evenings
    Candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check
