NATURE OF WORK
Under the general direction of the Director of PostSecondary Student Services, the computer technician
is responsible for the maintenance and implementation of updates for the in-house data
systems.
The computer technician is also responsible for
providing everyday maintenance and support to the
users of technologies of the office of the PostSecondary Student Services of the Cree School
Board in Montreal and Gatineau.
CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS
Assist with the operation, maintenance and updates
of all technologies for the continuous improvement
of the services offered at Post-Secondary Student
Services.
Tests or modifies applications in order to meet the
specific needs of the users.
Adapts the local area networks of the two offices of
PSSS, if necessary to ensure that they are compatible
with existing systems and that they meet the needs of
the users.
Manages, installs and configures systems
components according to the procedures established
by the I.T. Services.
Install, test and modify computer networks and
report any issues to the management of PostSecondary Student Services and to IT services.
Develops and oversees the application of various
procedures related to the use of networks and
equipment, particularly those concerning backup
copies, deletion of obsolete files and equipment
maintenance as well as the maintenance of network
user accounts in accordance to the Internet, Email
and Use of Network Resources Policy in place at the
Cree school Board.
Acts as a resource person for the highly complicated
maintenance of equipment and software, particularly
with regard to the installation and configuration.
Drafts instructions for software and applications and
participates in the training of users and supports them
in order to maximize their use.
Ensures proper operation of IP telephone equipment
throughout the administrative offices of PSSS,
checks for telecommunication devices changes,
phone extensions, etc…
If need be, performs any other related duty.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Hold a diploma of college studies in computer
science technology or a diploma or a recognized
attestation/certificate in the field of information &
technologies.
Preferably 4 years of experience.
Knowledge of the database software MS SQL
2012/2016 & MS VB5.0 & VB.Net and Visual
Source Safe & Crystal Report is an asset
(programming skills).
Should be bilingual in French and English.
Cree language proficiency would be an asset.
Available to travel to Gatineau on occasion.
