    Who we are… 

    The Pacific National Exhibition is an iconic institution in BC, famous for bringing generations of people together to celebrate and build memories. This 108 year old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of $48 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams:  the 15 day annual summer Fair which averages 800,000 guests each year, Playland amusement park which welcomes 375,000 guests annually including Fright Nights,  year-round events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events.  The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance.  The PNE is proud of the work it does at Hastings Park and has a management team that is passionate about events, guest experience and being the best we can be.

    We are looking for someone to join our PNE Human Resources Team and take part in the hiring of talented and passionate individuals who will help us orchestrate these remarkable and historic events at the PNE this year. We welcome over 1300 new team members each year and, this role will play a large part in that!

    What will you DO this year?

    In your role as an HR Recruitment Coordinator, your primary role will be to:

    Assist with Seasonal and Fair-time recruiting of approximately 1300 frontline staff.
    Assist with recruiting at all levels of the organization including screening and interviewing candidates for entry level, professional and technical job openings.
    Collaborate with managers and provide advice and guidance on staffing matters and recruiting strategies.
    Assist with delivery and coordination of seasonal orientation programs of up to 250 employees per session.
    Provide general administration support for the HR Department, including providing information and assistance internally and externally over the phone, electronically and in person.
    Assist with the coordination and administration of seasonal performance appraisals
    Assist with operations of the Employee Services Department/ Uniform &ID distribution centre on an as needed basis.
    Undertake a variety of HR projects as directed by the HR Advisor.
    Perform all other related duties as required.
    Work in compliance with all health and safety requirements as determined by WorkSafeBC, and all other applicable legislation and company policies.

    What else?

    You have completed or are currently working towards a Human Resources Management degree/diploma or; an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    Minimum of 1-2 years recruitment and general Human Resources experience.
    Previous experience working in a staffing agency and conducting face to face interviews is considered an asset.
    Must possess a valid BC driving license.
    Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office; previous experience with an HRIS or Applicant Tracking System is considered an asset.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to adapt to a variety of situations.
    Perform well in a fast-paced environment and have a creative mind for problem solving.
    Ability to function with some independence under pressure and able to meet multiple service demands.
    Ability to deal with confidential matters and use discretion.
    Ability to work extended hours at peak periods when required.
    Ability to work in a team environment, and foster effective working relationships with peers, employees, guests and any other external contacts.
    Candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check.
