    The Organization:
    The Property Registry (TPR) consists of two registries, the Land Titles Office and the Personal Property Registry. The Land Titles Office has six district offices in Manitoba and are located in Winnipeg, Brandon, Portage La Prairie, Morden, Dauphin and Neepawa. In Manitoba, Teranet; an international leader and pioneer in electronic land registry systems, has been licensed by the Government of Manitoba to operate TPR, a statutory registry proving certification of titles to land, maintaining land records and offering reliable information of financial interest in personal property to the public.     The Opportunity:
    Reporting to the Solutions Architect, and as an integral part of the Information Technology Team, the Java Developer is primarily responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing and supporting web-based software products. The scope of this role extends beyond systems and technical abilities to people dynamics in a team-driven IT environment. TPR is seeking an approachable, resourceful and talented Java developer to translate business needs into robust, secure and efficient functional applications and contribute to the transformation and digitization through continuous integration.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Ensure top performance, quality and responsiveness of applications.
    • Develop and test software in a variety of programming languages and sophisticated environments.
    • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems that span multiple systems.
    • Help maintain code quality, organization and automation.
    • Adhere and assist in establishment and appropriate continuous ongoing implementation of coding standards, procedures and techniques.
    • Work closely with software developers, providing technical oversight and guidance as needed in the development of new and existing projects.
    • Research new technologies, product designs, ideas, concepts and methodologies, staying current with technology trends and applying useful solutions that add value and address business needs.
    • Document new products, proof-of-concepts and create detailed technical designs, presenting new concepts, plans and roadmaps to the Senior Information Technology Team when applicable.

    Selection Criteria:
    • Diploma or University degree in computer science, business or equivalent work experience.
    • 5+ years experience as a Java Developer.
    • Expert proficiency in Java with good knowledge of its ecosystem, concurrency patterns, talent for writing clean, readable Java code and knowledge of EmberJS or another JavaScript web framework.
    • Must be proficient in Java, Spring, MVC frameworks, ORM frameworks, databases.
    • Understanding of fundamental design principles for building a scalable application.
    • Proficient in IDEs, build tools, source control tools, issue tracking systems.
    • Experience with the following technologies is an asset: JPA, Hibernate, Atomikos, JAXB, Spring MV+C, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Eclipse, Maven, Tomcat, SQL Server, DB2, GIT, Jira, LDAP, JQuery
    • Experience in using XML and XSD, and experience with building REST services supporting both JSON and XML.
    • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming.
    • Familiar with various design and architectural patterns
    • Experience in writing complex and highly efficient Stored Procedures.
    • Experience in writing SQL queries and optimizing performance.
    • Experience creating data models to meet business requirements.
    • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
    • Excellent problem-solving, trouble-shooting and stress management skills.
    • Creative and analytical thinker, with the capability to capitalize on the use of technology tools.
