    Reporting to the Manager, Payroll, the Payroll & Benefits Administrator will support the organization by running full-cycle payroll, year-end processes and benefits administration. Our ideal candidate has experience in unionized and non-unionized environments, has a methodical approach and is a true team player.

    What will you do this year?
    In your role as a Payroll & Benefits Administrator, your primary accountabilities will be to:
    •Run full-cycle payroll and year-end processes for union staff in a timely and accurate manner
    •Verify that payroll is processed in line with Collective Agreements and Employment Standards
    •Calculate and prepare manual cheques as required
    •Prepare complex reports
    •Prepare journal entries and calculate absence accruals
    •Prepare regular payroll account reconciliations
    •Assist the Payroll Manager with short-term disability claims
    •Process union pay adjustments, rate changes, terminations and records of employment
    •Other related duties as assigned

    What else?
    •Must have 2 or more years of experience in all facets of payroll administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    •Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline such as accounting and/or business administration
    •Completion of Canadian Payroll Associations Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation
    •Experience with payroll service providers and processing union payroll is an asset
    •Previous experience implementing a new ERP/Payroll system is an asset
    •Knowledge of legal requirements and entitlements governing payroll
    •Ability to conduct complex calculations with speed and accuracy
    •Ability to remain calm under pressure and tight deadlines
    •Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills; ability to speak, read, write and understand English for the purpose of written and oral instructions
    •Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends during the two weeks of the Fair (mid-August to beginning of September)
    •Candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check.
